Amanerado, fairy, zapatão, camionera, afectado, viado, tomboy, marimacho, campy. How can we define this ‘being that way’? The expression which makes us different from each other, which bothers others, which attracts their attention, which is known as ‘pluma’ in Spanish. A word which explains something that neither Portuguese nor English speakers have. A word which makes that external gaze a reality.

PLUMASS is an experimental short film commissioned from director Bea Saiáns to investigate the hybridization of cinema with other artistic disciplines, in this case the hybridization of cinema with dance. Dancer Marcia Vázquez embodies this symbiosis to capture the gender expression of people with a movement characterized as ‘having pluma’.
